Harley Stewart-Warner Police Special Speedometer 1:1 Ratio 1962-83 Rat Rod

One new reproduction 1:1 ratio Stewart-Warner "Police Special" speedometer for Harley-Davidson fat bob style tanks and dash covers for OHV FL and FLH Panhead, Servicar, and Shovelhead models from 1962 to 1980, FXWG wide glide 1980 , 1971 and 1972 FX Boat tail models.  This will work with any Harley fat bob dash and any 1:1 ratio harley speedometer drive.  This would also be cool for a rat rod project if you’ve got a 1:1 ratio speedometer drive.  This is for the speedometer head only and does not include a cable nor any mounting hardware, though we do sell all that in our store.  It does include an alloy knurled trip meter re-set knob.  Notice the detailing on the needle is very authentic for the period originals.

This is a Stewart-Warner licensed product but is NOT manufactured by S-W and this does not have a hand lock nor is there any provision to add a hand lock.

Of course it’s reproduction, but it sure beats a Harley knock-off which has no Harley logo on your old rider or restoration until you can find or afford a perfect factory rebuild or the rare NOS one which finds it’s way to eBay every now and then.

Fits in a 4 5/8” opening if you are planning to use this for a custom project.  Otherwise this fits just like a stock Harley Fat Bob speedo in your Harley.

Takes speedometer cable with standard Harley transmission mount and 5/8” female connection at the head.  The speedometer has a male connection on the back as shown. If you need a cable, please see my listing number 290710210777 for a zinc plated reproduction cable.  I've got H-D late 1960's bullseye style speedos and Beck style reproduction speedometers as well as NOS and nice used big twin and Sportster speedometers and tachometers in my store from time to time.  If you have an earlier style (pre-1962) cable with the male end at the speedo head, we have an adapter available.

Please double check what your transmission drive ratio is.  I have no way of knowing if someone else may have changed out the gearing for 2:1 or the 2240:1 or whatever the later ratio was.

Used on any of the following with four speed transmissions and a 1:1 drive speedometer drive ratio:

  • 1962-1965 FL & FLH 74" OHV Panhead
  • 1962-1973 G, GE Servicar
  • 1966-1980 FL, FLH 74" Shovelhead
  • 1971-1972 FX 74" Shovelhead
  • 1980-? FXWG with four speed transmission drive
