You are purchasing one new USA Made wiring harness kit for 1948 twin model Harley-Davidsons. This is our premium kit, several years of research went into our wiring program. We spent hours at the HD museum in Milwaukee shooting photos of the wiring details on their original bikes. We've also spent a considerable amount of money buying NOS and good used OEM wiring samples to increase our understanding of these earlier electrical systems. We have had several of the long-obsolete terminal ends reproduced.
The last two photos are taken from the 1948 Panhead in the HD collection. Our ring terminals are exactly the same as the originals.
This 1948 harness represents the culmination of these efforts. The #10 crimp terminals were used from 1948 into at least 1954. We managed to source these long-obsolete terminals as well as the correct crimping tools for them. The flag terminals are the correct design as well and are the same dimensionally as the originals.
The main looms are all grouped in cotton-woven loom, asphalt loom is used where it was originally. You would have a hard time discerning between an original harness and ours other than the oxidation on an original's colors. The terminals are in place on the headlamp/horn harness, tail lamp contacts, spring, and spring plate have been installed already. You will need to solder the new wires into your existing horn and dimmer switches and you will need to be able to crimp a few terminals.
This harness is correct for use with the new seat post terminal box introduced in 1948 and spring forks.
