You are purchasing four USA Made reproduction Panhead luggage carrier or rack studs (OEM# unknown at this time) special nuts OEM# 53457-52 and 1/4”-28 nuts and 1/4” lock washers.

You get four of each, just as pictured in the first picture.

These were used on the 53403-52 chrome luggage rack introduced for rigid frame Panhead Harleys in 1952.  This rack will fit earlier models but is considered correct for 1952 to 1957.  These nuts are not used on later model racks as those were affixed with 5/16” diameter bolts.  Cadmium is the correct finish on these.  I’ve had NOS nuts and these are exact in every detail as the originals.

The studs are 1/4”-28 and the same studs as used to mount leather saddlebags which were hung using the metal plates.  Soon as I can locate the OEM number I will post it.  This was always a mystery in the Panhead parts catalogs because it would show the outer nuts but never the studs.  The included plain nuts and lock washers are used to secure the stud to the rear fender from the outside, then the luggage rack legs are stretched over the studs and affixed with the special nuts.  The thin hex on the studs will help protect your paint from being rubbed off by the luggage rack legs.

I’d strongly recommend using some blue Loc-Tite to make sure the nuts to not vibrate loose.

The nuts have a 9/16” hex head and 1/4”-28 NF thread.

Used on the following:
  • 1952-1957 FL & FLH 74” OHV Panhead Hydra-Glide
We have hundreds of hardware and detail items for your vintage Harley-Davidson including CP-1038 & CP-1035 hardware, parkerized and cad plated screws, washers, and nuts, wire loom spring clips, oil and fuel lines.  We stock many hard to find items for your 1915 to 1984 Harley-Davidson.  If you don’t see what you need, just ask.

There seems to be some misinformation on CP bolts and "reproductions".  Chandler Products has always been willing to produce these bolts with large minimum quantity orders. There's either early production or current production. They changed head dies as they wore out and had multiple dies.  All nuts are USA made using the same process Harley used when they operated their own screw and nut equipment with the flat lands on them.  Spacers and washers are produced just like the ones H-D did back in the day.  Parkerizing is same finish as how these came from the factory in the 1950's.  I've also got other hardware kits listed in my store under "pre 1980's hardware" including all sorts of pre-sorted kits containing CP-1035 and CP-1038 bolts and other unique vintage H-D fasteners to meet your restoration needs.

A note on shipping:

Please understand sellers on eBay do not set the shipping rates.  Please also understand that sellers are charged a final value fee on the amount of shipping you are charged over and above the fees they pay on the sale and the Paypal transaction.  In addition to that, sellers have the expense of labels, shipping materials, padded mailers, etc.  I do charge a handling fee on some items, but I also offer several shipping options whenever possible to give you more affordable shipping choices.  If you ever think the shipping fee charged is too high, please let me know before leaving a low rating on shipping charges.  It’s rare that I receive such feedback, but I work hard to keep my customers happy.  I’d rather know if someone is unhappy before they leave a low rating.  That’s the only way I can solve a problem.  I don’t ever want a customer to go away unhappy!

Know who you are buying from! We are not a drop-ship operation, each and every part we sell is carefully inspected to assure you get the quality part described in the listing.  We have a no-hassle return policy, and we stand behind the parts we sell because we know what we are selling and shipping to our customers.  Before you make a purchasing decision compare our feedback vs. others.

We are aware eBay’s shipping calculator is not working correctly on combining shipping for some of our listings.  If the shipping amount eBay is trying to charge you seems high, please contact us immediately or simply click “request total from seller” and we will promptly manually calculate your shipping.  We always combine shipping on multiple item orders and will find the least expensive method which falls in line with how quickly you need your items.  Thank you!
