You are purchasing a USA made reproduction kit of parkerized straight slot oval head countersunk transmission top screws for 1936-1955 Harley-Davidson big twin four speed transmissions, includes Knucklehead, Panhead, and UL models.  As far as which years this style was "correct" for there is varying information out there but the straight slots with parkerized finish should be correct for 1936 to 1949 with possibly some exceptions:  

Bruce Palmer in his "How To Restore Your Harley-Davidson" book says Phillips top cover screws were used 1953 to 1964 and possibly as early as 1951.  All the parts catalogs I have start listing "socket-head" screws for these transmissions in 1959, and yet other people say 1950-1953 was correct as that was when H-D was using Phillips screws on lifter bases and cam covers.  Unfortunately there don't seem to be any widely published factory photos of the top of these transmissions from different eras to corroborate what is correct.  We do our best to make sure you get good information, but as always, please check your own reference sources.

For you folks with 1954 and 1955 models, we do offer this set in a cadmium finish as well as a correct kit with the new vent screw offered starting in 1956 which ran through 1964.

The parkerizing is a very good quality and machining is Identical to the original H-D spec on the screws and vent plug.

  • 1937-1948 U, UL, ULH, 74" & 80" flathead or sidevalve
  • 1936-1947 E, F, EL, FL 61" & 74" OHV Knucklehead

  • 2265-36 Transmission or gear box vent nipple
  • 2268-36 1/4"-24 N.S. X 13/16" oval head straight slot countersunk machine screw
  • 1523-32 1/4"-24 N.S. X 2" oval head straight slot countersunk machine screw
