You are purchasing one beautiful European reproduction of the beehive or boat tail tail and brake lamp for 1939-1941 Harley-Davidson twin models including Knucklehead, UL, WL and Servicar. This will fit all 1939-1946 models but as it does not have holes in the body for the the screw in lens retainer clips it is "detail-correct" for 1939-1941 models. Comes complete with all hardware shown, the tag bracket and a felt tail lamp to fender gasket. The body is parkerized so you can finish it in the color of your choice. If chrome is more your style, we do currently have a chrome '42-'46 OEM lamp on another listing in restored condition. We also have a reproduction '42-'46 available on yet another listing.
Rather than the fiddly clips used to secure the lenses on these, our craftsman welded studs inside the lamp to secure spring clips, a genius improvement no one will see!
This kit has the proper Harley-Davidson inscription on the peak of the lamp body, tag bracket, and the red lens. Also has the same numerical sequence under the lens as OEM. This is as perfect a reproduction as we have ever seen.
One copper fold over flag terminal is included for your black tail lamp wire. To be finished properly, you will strip back your red wire about 1.5", wrap the wire around a #8 punch then tin it with solder. If you would prefer to get a tail lamp harness with the terminals already soldered in place, let us know. That would require you to solder in two cap terminals in the tail lamp once you have fished the wires through. We can also supply you with a correct 1946/47 flag terminal if you are buying this for a '46. In our experience as well as photographing pre-war bikes in the H-D museum, color-traced wires were not used extensively prior to 1946. If you would prefer the lamp wires with white single tracers, let us know and we will do that for you.
