You are purchasing one new reproduction tail and brake lamp for 1934-only Harley-Davidson 74" & 45" twin and C single models including VL, RL, Servicar, . This is dual filament so it is for a running light and brake light, you can omit the wire for the brake like if you wish. Standard, this will come with a six volt bulb, if you need 12V just ask at time of order and we will ship it with a 12V bulb.
Both lenses are glass and the clear lens is not fluted. Do note, some restorers have reported the hole registration as being slightly off, like 1/16" to 1/8" so it may be necessary to re-drill your fender holes or open them up slightly. This is as detail-correct as you can get for a 1934 tail lamp.
This is VL and RL specific as it comes with our premium VL/RL tail and brake lamp harness kit which also includes the 19" solid green coil to brake switch wire as well as 1934 being the last year for the flat red glass lens. The wires are the correct 73" solid red cloth insulated brake light wire and 57" solid black tail lamp wire with correct tinned brass 1614-18 terminals sweated in place.
If you are not running a brake switch, we do have a more basic kit with crimp terminals for about $20 less or we can sell you this with just the single black wire with the correct terminal attached, just email and let us know that's what you want to do.
Our research shows that HD used primarily non-traced wiring prior to the end of WW-II with some exceptions (handlebar dimmer switch wiring was traced from 1930-onward.)
This is also what is known as an air flow or beehive style tail lamp.
There may be some details an AMCA judge could pick apart but as a VL owner ourselves, this is one we run on our own bikes.
