You are purchasing one new reproduction tail and brake lamp for 1934-1938 Harley-Davidson twin and single models including VL, RL, Servicar, Knucklehead, UL, and WL.  This is dual filament so it is for a running light and brake light, you can omit the wire for the brake like if you wish.  Standard, this will come with a six volt bulb, if you need 12V just ask at time of order and we will ship it with a 12V bulb.

Both lenses are glass.  Do note, some restorers have reported the hole registration as being slightly off, like 1/16" to 1/8" so it may be necessary to re-drill your fender holes or open them up slightly. 

This is EL, UL, and WL specific as it comes with our premium 1936-1938 tail and brake lamp harness kit which also includes the 19" solid green coil to brake switch wire.  The wires are the correct 73" solid red cloth insulated brake light wire and 57" solid black tail lamp wire with correct looped and tinned wire terminals sweated in place.  If you are not running a brake switch, we do have a more basic kit with crimp terminals for about $20 less or we can sell you this with just the single black wire with the correct terminal attached, just email and let us know that's what you want to do.

Our research shows that HD used primarily non-traced wiring prior to the end of WW-II with some exceptions (handlebar dimmer switch wiring was traced from 1930-onward.)

This is also what is known as an air flow or beehive style tail lamp.  

We sell this lamp with a harness including the correct solid red and black tail and brake lamp wires as well as the green coil to switch wire with the correct 1614-18 tinned eyelet terminals for VL and RL models and a 1936-1938 Knucklehead/UL harness with looped and tinned wire terminals if you are adding a stop lamp switch to your ride.  Comes with detailed instructions.

There may be some details an AMCA judge could pick apart but as a VL owner ourselves, this is one we run on our own bikes.
