Harley 1948 Panhead Head Bolts FL FLH EL CP1038 Parkerized Early ‘48 OEM# 14-48

Spot-on USA-made Parkerized CP-1038 head bolts for 1948 to 1965 EL, FL, and FLH Panhead models.  Correctly heat treated and machined just like the originals, these are stamped CP 1038 on the bolt head.  These are grade 8 bolts.

According to Bruce Palmer’s “How To Restore Your Harley-Davidson” book, it appears a parkerized finish would have been correct on the head bolts to mid-year 1948.

There seems to be some misinformation on CP bolts and "reproductions".  Chandler Products has always been willing to produce these bolts with large minimum quantity orders. There's either early production or current production. They changed head dies as they wore out and had multiple dies. Top mount bolt and all nuts are USA made using the same process Harley used when they operated their own screw and nut equipment with the flat lands on them.  Spacers and washers are produced just like the ones H-D did back in the day.  Parkerizing is same finish as how these came from the factory in the 1950's.  I've also got other hardware kits listed in my store under "pre 1980's hardware" including a CP-1038 gas tank and oil tank mounting kit which would go great with this.
  • E, EL, FL, FLH OHV 61" & 74" Panheads from 1948 to 1965. (should be “detail-correct” on first of 1948 to mid 1948 models)
  • FLH OHV 74" Shovelheads from 1966 to 1976.  Can be used later. In 1977, HD changed to an integral head bolt.  Not sure how late the CP 1038 markings would be "correct" for a Shovelhead.
These are 7/16”- 20 x 2 9/16" bolts.
