You are purchasing one European-made high speed needle valve for 1 1/4" bore Linkert and Schebler side valve and IOE carburetors used from 1927 to 1952. This has the "Type II" knob on it which was wider at the top and the knurls that engage the retainer ball are smaller diameter which makes it "detail correct" on Linkerts from 1933 to about 1947. These would have been used on JD, DL, RL, VL, UL, and WL, models, as well as Indian, Henderson, or any other brand using 1 1/4" bore Schebler Deluxe or Linkert M-Series carburetors.
This is to repair your high speed circuit when the threads have stripped as the threaded area is twice as long as stock. You will need a 1/4"-40 tap to thread your holes further down to make this work. Please check our other listings for the tap you need.
This will work on an M-5 carb for your Knucklehead, but the correct knob for that needle is more elongated for the rider to reach it under their tank.
This does not fit 1" Linkert carburetors as used on commercial units, four cylinders, or Servicars, nor 1 1/2" bore Linkert carbs.
We also sell fuel strainers, fuel lines, needles, main nozzles, low and high speed needles, standard and oversize throttle and choke discs, and other repair parts. Keep an eye on our listings for OEM Linkert carburetor bodies.
I have built literally hundreds of Linkert M-Series carbs over the years and these are an excellent replacement needle and got me out of jams where the threads were ruined when the carb was shipped to me.
Fits the following, "Detail Correct" through 1947:
- 1927-1929 J, JD, JDH
- 1930-1936 V, VL, VC, VD, VLD, VE, VLD, VH, VLH except commercial units equipped with 1" bore carburetors
- 1936-1939 E, EL, ELS 61" OHV Knucklehead (correct taper on the needle, incorrect knob)
- 1929-1936 D, DL, DLD, R, RLD, RLE, 45" non-commercial solo models with 1 1/4" carburetors
- 1937-1948 U, UL, ULH, UH, US, USA, UA, ULA
