NOS WLA engine complete with all OEM NOS M-88 carb, 32E Generator, cutout relay, timer & timer wire, top motor mount bracket (not shown), Champion air cooled Spark Plugs, fording breather, matched 1945 belly numbers (45-19284), May 1945 casting date on left case, heads are #6 aluminum. I am not sure if the sprocket shown on the engine is NOS or lightly used. Engine appears to have been un-crated for some time and it is not perfect. For certain it has not ever been fired, motor turns over smoothly and it is complete down to the shielded timer wire.
Engine came from the Pueblo Ordinance Depot in Colorado at some point in the 1960's or 1970's. I am the second owner since it left the depot. The previous owner had mocked this up in a frame for a project which was never completed and the motor was never fired. I purchased this without the original crate which had disappeared years ago. This engine is from an era when you could buy these for $100 a pop and nobody thought twice about putting them in a frame and getting their 45 on the road again. No one ever thought an engine would be collectable.
There is some surface rust on the exterior of the front and rear cylinders and it appears it had tipped over on it's right side at some point as there is a dent in the timer cover, two cracked fins on front cylinder, one cracked fin on rear cylinder. A mild detergent and wet rag would do wonders for the appearance. Would definitely be worth more if it were not uncrated, but observing what NOS parts are going for, this is about the right value on the sum total of parts, which are all NOS. Actually $4500 would be a bit less than what you can sell off the individual parts for in today's market.
We also currently have a rolling late 1940's Servicar project if that may be of interest.
Not interested in offers, trades, parting out for a set of roller bearings, or debating the term "NOS". I do have more photos available to serious buyers.
